People’s Artist Nguyen Trong Khoi, former Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Stage Artists, passed away yesterday at the age of 70.

Artist Trong Khoi is known for his excellent performances in both theatre and film. Among his many great contributions was the establishment of the Centre for Preservation and Development of Vietnamese Stage, responsible for collecting archive documents and photos from the world of Vietnamese theatre. He has played several successful roles in the theatre, land-owner Nghi Hach in "Giong to"; King Lear in Shakespear famous play; French general De Castries in " Dien Bien Phu song" or King Bao Dai in " History and the witness"...
Trong Khoi was awarded the ‘Meritorious Artist’ title in 1989 and the ‘People’s Artist’ accolade in 2010.
His recently published book titled ‘San Khau Va Nghiep Dien’ (Stage and Drama Career), provides younger artists a view of his experiences in the performing arts.
