Pedestrian bridges to be built in mountainous districts

186 pedestrian bridges will be built across the country after the Prime Minister has given proposal the green light.

The Ministry of Transport submitted its proposal of building 186 pedestrian bridges in 28 mountainous districts in the North, the Central and the Highlands Vietnam to ensure traffic safety in the areas where most of residents are ethnic minority groups.

The Ministry said that these bridges will have high load bearing capacity of 200 - 300 kilogram per meter square. These pedestrian will be used within 25 years.

Bridge building projects will be carried out ensuring four criteria of safety, less expenditure, and effectiveness. Moreover they must be built in short time to soon facilitate travelling demand of residents.

These bridges will replace unsafe counterparts and help residents in these disadvantaged districts going from one place to another safely.
