Participants try self-driving cars in Open Camp

Nearly 800 technology students of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City and Hanoi have been taking part in the event of the Open Camp in three days on January 6, 8 and 12.

These are participants in the preliminary round of the contest Digital Race 2017-2018 launched by FPT with the theme of ‘Programming self-driving cars’.
Coming to the event which focuses on digital technology, all contestants are attending a workshop where FPT experts are sharing latest trends in the technological field such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), self-driving vehicles while also discussing their applications in Vietnam.
Most specially, on this occasion, these students are gaining an opportunity to try FPT’s technology of self-driving cars.
All questions of contestants about specific technological algorithm during this experiencing period or the whole time of taking part in the contest will be answered thoroughly by professionals.
The Digital Race 2017-2018, which is a programming contest on self-driving cars for university students nationwide, is happening from October 2017 to April 2018.
This year’s contest might be tougher than last year’s one. In particular, in the final round, all participants must program their car to run in simulated outdoor light, recognize traffic signs, and turn right/left in accordance with rules.
The overall value of all prizes are around VND4 billion ($176,170). The winning team will receive a total prize of VND450 million ($19,820), including a one-week trip to Japan to experience as well as learn about new technology, and be directly recruited by FPT Software.
