Over 2,000 people attend rally for Vietnam’s Islands, Seas in Da Nang

More than 2,000 people participated in a rally for "Vietnam’s Islands, Seas" and "World's Oceans day" (June 8) at Bien Dong (East Sea) Park in Son Tra district of Da Nang City on June 7.

At the rally, leaders of Da Nang city and crowded staffs, officials, veterans, citizens opposed strongly China’s illegal position of the oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam’s East Sea.

On this occasion, social organizations, units and individuals donated over VND 100 million to fund for the native land's sea and islands.

After the rally, thousands of people attended a campaign to clean municipal beaches.

Da Nang city will also celebrate a conference with aiming to popularize issues such as Vietnam’s sea law, the country’s island sovereignty, environmental protection and exploitation of natural resources.
