HCMC is one of the world’s ten large cities seriously impacted by climate change and sea level rise.
The districts of Binh Thanh, 2 and Hoc Mon will be the hardest hit districts with 86.7 percent, 26.6 percent and 34.5 percent of areas to lie under water respectively.
HCMC will be highly vulnerable for climate change with crowded population and high infrastructure investment level. Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular will be strongly impacted by climate change. So joining hands in climate change adaptation is responsibility of the entire society especially the youth and students as future owners of the country.
The above information was said on October 28, when Vietnam Association for Safe water and Environmental Sanitation coordinated with the Environment and Life magazine launched competition “Climate change and life.”
The completion themed drought and salt intrusion attracted 500 students from universities and colleges in the city.
