The Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) Da Nang football team will have a new coach at its helm as Assistant Coach Le Huynh Duc will replace Phan Thanh Tung, announced SHB Chairman Do Quang Hien in an official meeting on Jan. 23.
Two-time Vietnamese Golden Ball winner Duc said he was surprised at first, however he promised to try to do his best to steer SHB in the coming time, especially in upcoming matches against Hoa Phat Ha Noi and Ha Noi ACB in V-League 2008.
Duc suggested strictly forcing his players to go into some serious training in which they should follow all the strategies set out by coaches.
Though Duc did not have much experience as main coach, SHB would all trust and support him, Mr Hien said.
According to Mr. Hien, the replacement is due to many weaknesses during training and planning strategies for SHB causing three losses in the V-League 2008.
Deputy Coach Truong Van Loi still remains in his post.
Mr Hien also affirmed an increase of 50 to 100 percent in wages for SHB coaches and players, depending on their ability and previous contributions. Besides, SHB has earmarked VND11 billion (US$687,500) to reward its players during the 2008 season.
