The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Teams (VNCERT) and the Vietnam Public-utility Telecommunication Service Fund co-held a training workshop on March 7 on information security in accordance with international standards.
Taking part in the workshop were members of the emergency response team as well as information technology units of ministries, departments, and local authorities.
This workshop is also to prepare for the upcoming drill of Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) with the participation of more than 20 nations and territories.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung stated that the risk of Internet security attack due to Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly increasing.
“Billions of information technology devices connecting to the Internet each day for sharing and downloading data, along with around 7.1 million new ones, have become inviting targets for hackers", said Hung.
"These criminals can steal and then take advantage of various kinds of sensitive information on the Internet. The negative consequences of those attacks on artificial intelligence systems, robots, as well as industrial controlling systems are immeasurable”, added the Deputy Minister.

According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Deputy Director of VNCERT, over the first 2 months of this year, there have been more than 1,500 incidents of Internet attacks targeted Vietnamese systems, including 218 phishing and 962 deface cases related to the domain name of .gov.vn.
Most of them were successfully recovered. In 2017, there were also 13.382 cyberattacks reported in Vietnam
