The Department of Preventative Medicine yesterday said that around 15 million children aged 1 to 14 have so far received free immunizations against measles and rubella across the country.

Parents should not worry about vaccination and take their children to nearby medical centers for vaccination, the deparment said.

Though 15 million children have been vaccinated with vaccine against measles and rubella, the Ministry of Health has still issued warning of the disease re-occurrence especially in the winter. In addition, the disease is plaguing in some bordering districts with Laos.

Moreover, the disease is still threatening in the border crossings with China where the disease occurred three years ago

Accordingly, to prevent an outbreak of measles in the bordering districts, the Ministry decided to immediately implement immunization against measles and rubella in the mountainous provinces bordering with China and Laos.

The free vaccination campaign will be conducted for all children from 1 to 14 year old to curb transmission into the country.
