The Ministry of Transport has fixed its rates for a road maintenance fee in a draft circular forwarded to the Ministry of Finance for approval.

In the circular, the Transport Ministry has reduced rates and divided into categories eight types of automobiles and four types of motorcycles.
Accordingly, automobiles will pay a monthly fee from VND180,000-1,440,000 and motorcycles will pay a yearly fee from VND80,000-180,000.
Automobiles with less than ten seats, ambulance, hearse, cash-carrier vans, trucks and container-lorries of less than four tonne capacity will be charged VND180,000 a month.
Buses of 10-24 seats, trucks and container-lorries of 4-8.5 tonne capacity will be charged VND 270,000; buses of 25-40 seats, trucks and container-lorries of 8.5-13 tonne capacity will be charged VND396,000.
Coaches with 40 seats or more and trucks of 13-19 tonnes will pay VND590,000 a month.
Trucks of 19-27 tonne capacity will pay VND720,000 a month. Trucks and container-lorries of more than 27 tonne capacity will pay VND1,440,000 a month.
Semi-trailer trucks of less than 27 tonne capacity will be charged VND720,000 and for higher capacity, charge will be VND1,044,000 a month.
Motorcycles have been categorized into four levels for payment of the road maintenance fee.
Scooters of engine capacity less than 70cc will pay from VND80,000-100,000 a year, while those with 70-100cc category the charge will be from VND100,000-120,000 a year.
Motorcycles of capacity 100-175cc will pay VND120,000-150,000 and over 175cc will pay VND150,000-180,000 a year.
