Increase of traffic accidents and deaths during Tet holidays

The National Traffic Safety Committee reports 72 traffic accidents causing 41 deaths and 82 injuries on February 4.

Of the deaths, 40 died in road accidents and one in a railway accident. 

Although there was a decrease in death number by 67 people, the number of accident and injured people increased by 161 incidents and 230 people respectively.

Most accidents occur in countryside areas due to passengers not wearing helmets, speeding, drunk driving and carelessness, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

The committee has mobilized police forces to issue harsh fines for traffic violations.
