The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday warned the possibility of the surge in illegally imported poultry from China into Vietnam before and after Tet holiday ( the Lunar New Year) when demand of poultry and pork is high.
Specifically, from the beginning of the year, authority in the northern province of Lang Son has seized and handled over 102 smuggling of more than 118,000 baby waterfowl, over 3,000 kilogram of poultry meat and 26,000 eggs.
In December, 2018, cheap poultry was smuggled rampantly into Vietnam through the border gate Chi La in Lang Son Province. Local competent agencies confiscated Chinese live poultry, port meat and other foodstuffs through border crossing in Lang Son Province to consume in Vietnam.
Therefore, in his dispatch to people’s committee chairpersons in cities and provinces, ministers, Deputy Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Phung Duc Tien asked to curb smuggling, sales and consumption of animal meat.
