The Department of Anti-Environmental Crime Police caught the Tan Hiep Thanh Company in District 8 in Ho Chi Minh City dumping 100 cubic meters of untreated wastewater into the Tau Hu Canal on October 17.

According to the southern branch of the Department of Anti-Environmental Crime Police, under the Ministry of Public Security, the company was dumping untreated wastewater from its streamers into the Tau Hu Canal and had also not repaired its wastewater treatment system ever since it broke down in May this year.

The company was caught releasing chemical dyes used for colouring fabrics via an underground pipeline in the factory.

A representative of the anti-environmental department said that earlier this same company had been penalized VND200 million for dumping wastewater into the canal. The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee had also asked the company to suspend operations and to relocate to another place to avoid polluting the canal. However, the company has not only disregarded all orders but has continued polluting the environment.
