At a meeting to review family planning and population task in 2018 and implement plan for 2019 in Hanoi, Deputy Head of the Department of Population and Family Planning under Ministry of Health Vo Thanh Dong said inhabitants in Hanoi live longer than their peers in other localities in Vietnam.
Head of the department Ta Quang Huy said Hanoi gained some achievements in population and family planning in 2018 including birth rate of 15.13 per thousand, a year-on-year decrease of 0.17 per thousand; the sex ratio being 113 boys to 100 girls; the rate of pregnant undergoing prenatal screening and newborns undergoing screening tests being 76 percent and 84.1 percent respectively.
Hanoi strives to reduce the rate of pregnant without undergoing prenatal screening to 0.1 per thousand and the proportion of pregnant undergoing prenatal screening and newborns undergoing screening tests to 78 percent and 85 percent respectively. Additionally, the sex ratio will be 113 boys to 100 girls.
