Hanoi receives Shakyamuni Buddha’s robes

The robes of 10 meter-long each are made of various kinds of valuable silks. They were used to dress the lying 4m-long Shakyamuni Buddha Statue in the Kushinagar relics, India.

The kasaya (in Sanskrit) will be used for the giant Jadeite sculpture of the Siddhartha Gautama Buddha which has been being carved by more than 50 skillful Chinese artisans since January in the country. The artists have been invited to Vietnam for carving the statue by Than Chau Ngoc Viet Gems & Jewelry Co.,ltd.

The gems and jewelry company imported the 35-tons, 3m high,2m wide and 2,4 thick block of Jadeite from a gemstone fair in Myanmar in 2009.

The company expects to complete the Budhha after 2 years carving.The Budhha will be three meters tall, 20 tons of weight and the biggest Jadeite Buddha in the World.
