Five models of the made-in-Viet Nam laptops under the "V-open" brand name were introduced to the public yesterday morning.
The Lien Viet Thanh Technology Joint Stock Company, newly founded by nine Vietnamese computer companies, aims to cut down its products' prices and improve the made-in-Viet Nam laptops in the local market, tempting more customers.
Discount of 5% and free USB flash 1.0 GB memory drive will be offered to purchasers of the V-open laptops from now to January 16.
The company expects to produce about 1,000 laptops a month in 2007, of which 60% are cheap laptops for local students with an average price of VND9 million (roughly US$558).
