The Vietnam Plastic House Company on June 10 signed a joint-venture contract with a biodegradable plastic company in Guangzhou (China) to build a biodegradable plastic plant in Long An Province, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
The plant, whose capacity is 3,000 tons of bio-plastic bags per annum, is funded US$10 million, of which Vietnam Plastic House Company contributes 51 percent and the rest is from its Chinese partner. It will produce biodegradable plastic bags from wheat flour. The plant is expected to finish its construction and start operation at the beginning of 2017.
