Accordingly, due to the severe effects of the adverse weather at the moment, there is a high risk of dam bursting in such regions as the Mekong Delta, especially in the provinces of Kien Giang, An Giang, Dong Thap, and Long An. There is also the risk of flood and land slide in the northern mountainous areas or the north central area, particularly in the provinces of Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Son La, and Thanh Hoa.
Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training suggested that all units closely monitor the flooding status to timely inform teachers and students. It also instructed local educational institutes to ensure the safety of their own learners and trainers. It is compulsory not to organize any unnecessary extra curriculum activities in this period.
Meanwhile, the Departments of Education and Training as well as schools need to strongly cooperate with other units and organizations to implement the task of protect children and students to avoid drowning accidents as much as possible.
Methods to guarantee the safety of property and educational facilities must also be used, especially in places where there is a high risk of flooding.
When being asked by the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, educational institutes must provide space for evacuation.
The Ministry of Education and Training also mentioned the task of preventing epidemic diseases, timely cleaning and repairing facilities to resume learning and teaching activities after the flooding time.
Preliminary reports from the Son La Department of Education and Training showed that many schools in the districts of Mai Son, Moc Chau, and Van Ho were severely damaged during this flooding.
