The document asked principals to increase the propaganda of dengue information in their schools following the complicated development of the disease in the city and implement the city People’s Committee decision on taking measures against the dengue.
In the document, Mr. Vinh required also schools to enhance dengue information supply as per the Ministry of Health’s warning. Teaching staffs and students are given information of disease symptoms, personal hygiene and environment cleanup ways.
Schools will popularize dengue information through loudspeakers and their websites. Communist youth unions in schools will take part in popularize the information to its members in extra-activities.
At the flag salute on Monday (December 3 ), school managers will talk about dengue prevention and organize campaign to kill mosquito larvae and adult mosquitoes. All staffs will be mobilized to work with health workers under the campaign at houses, schools and clean the environment.
Previously, Da Nang saw a soar of dengue cases. At the city General Hospital’s Tropical Disease Ward, dengue patients overloaded the infirmary’s first to third floors. Two or three patients had to share the same bed while many had to stay outside.
In November alone, the ward has admitted 200 patients a day; many of them are from other provinces. At present, hospital managers take heed of treating these patients.
Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Tien Hong said since the beginning of the year, the city has recorded 3,614 cases, a year-on-year decrease of 45 percent.
