In October, tuition fees were stiffened in some provinces, contributing about 0,25 percent to the country’s CPI increase, said Nguyen Duc Thang, head the General Statistics Office’s Prices Department.

In addition, rice prices rose as southern businesses have strengthened stockpiling for exports. Prices of other goods including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), building materials, medicines and milk kept moving up.

Hanoi’s CPI edged up by 1.22 percent in October due to the rocket in the consumption demand during the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Especially, recent floods in the central region have increased provisions’ prices.

According to economic experts, with the continual natural disasters in Vietnam and in the world, food prices would maintain moving up in November.
