A concert to celebrate 40 years of Vietnam-UK diplomatic relations will be held on November 21-22 at the Opera House at 1 Trang Tien Street in Hanoi.

World renowned British conductor, Professor Colin Metters, will return to Vietnam this November for the special concert to mark 40 years of Vietnam-UK diplomatic relations.
He will be accompanied by Guy Johnston, a British cellist who was nominated BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2000.
The program will feature the Roman Carnival Overture by Hector Berlioz, Cello Concerto by Edward Elgar, and Symphony No 5 by Tchaikovsky.
Ninety musicians of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra will also join the repertoire while the young talented Vietnamese conductor Tran Nhat Minh from the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra and Opera will assist Colin Metters.
Tickets are available at the Opera House at 1 Trang Tien Street, Sketch Travel at 25 Truong Han Sieu Street, and Shop P at 8 Nha Chung Street. Prices vary from VND200,000 to VND50,000.
Students can avail of their Student ID card to enjoy a discount of VND100,000.
Colin Metters was invited to Vietnam for the first time 16 years ago by the British Council to begin a training project for the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. It became one of the most successful and longest UK-Vietnam cultural partnerships. He was awarded the Cultural Activists Medal by the Vietnamese Government in 1999 for his services to Vietnamese culture. His work in Vietnam was even featured in a BBC documentary called ‘Harmony in Hanoi’, directed by Anthony Fabian in 2003. |
