City Party Chief receives German Ambassador and US Consul General

Politburo member, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang yesterday received Germany’s Ambassador to Vietnam Christian Berger and the United States Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ms. Rena Bitter.

At the reception, Mr. Christian Berger reported progress of Ben Thanh- Trung Luong metro project. In July, 2016, German Bank for Reconstruction and Development will send a report on construction progress to Vietnam.

The city’s Party Chief said that the city leaders always desire to hasten implement progress for the city’s metro projects because the projects will contribute solving serious traffic jam in the city. In the upcoming time, functional agencies will focus on hastening construction progress after the city authority strengthens staffs of railway management board.

On the same day, Mr. Dinh La Thang had a meeting with Mrs. Rena Bitter, the United States Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City who came to say bid farewell after her working term in Ho Chi Minh City.

The city’s Party Chief appreciated her activities during the working term in the city and contributed to attracting the United States high- level leader delegations and businesses to HCMC.

Mr. Dinh La Thang expressed his thanks to Mrs. Rena Bitter for successful collaboration with HCMC during visit of the U. S Barack Obama to the city.

On the occasion, the city’s Party Chief congratulated Mrs. Rena Bitter as she was appointed as the United States Ambassador in Laos.  He believed Mrs. Rena Bitter would contribute further development for Vietnam- U.S relations.
