On the third day of Tet Lunar New Year (Jan. 25), Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee along with leaders of the HCMC People’s Committee, visited and extended Tet greetings to sewage workers of Da Phuoc Centre in Binh Chanh District who were unable to return to their hometowns during the festive season.
On behalf of City Party leaders, Secretary Hai praised the garbage treatment at the Da Phuoc recycling centre, which has modern foreign technology, and is helping to keep the city clean and beautiful.
Previously, on the first day of Tet Lunar New Year (Jan. 23), State President Truong Tan Sang led a delegation to visit and offer Tet greetings to members of the HCMC Party and leaders of the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, the HCMC National Assembly and the Fatherland Front.
He wished them a happy new year and expressed his belief that HCMC will “together and for the whole nation” be in the forefront in fulfilling the task of building and defending the socialist country and implementing the set tasks of the Party Central Committee in 2012.
The President stressed that 2012 would present the country with many challenges, thus HCMC must stay focused in order to fulfill its targets and closely follow the direction as stated in the Party Congress XI resolutions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Plenum 3 and 4.
The President also visited Military Zone 7 High Command Base and applauded the armed forces' resolve in national defense and ensured good living standards for officers and soldiers.
He called on the forces to increase their training, boost national defense and raise their responsibility in protecting the country’s border with Cambodia as well as the sovereignty, and maintain a peaceful environment.
President Truong Tan Sang also visited workers at their enterprises and guesthouses in the southern province of Dong Nai on Jan. 24, the second day of Tet Lunar New Year.
He wished them a happy New Year and presented gifts to the workers who were unable to return to their families during the New Year festival season.
At the Formosa Company in Nhon Trach Industrial Zone, President Sang met with over 300 workers, urging them to exert more effort to improve their skills to meet the work demands as well as for the country’s development.
He urged the company leaders to pay more attention to the workers and help them stay focused on their work.
The company has built a large housing complex to accommodate thousands of workers.
The President also visited guesthouses for workers in Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City and Trang Bom District.
He asked that local authorities, companies, grassroots organisations and guesthouse owners pay more attention to the living conditions of workers.
On the occasion, President Sang extended his New Year wishes to all the people of Dong Nai Province.
Earlier, he offered incense in memory of martyrs at a temple in Nhon Trach District.
Evening of Jan. 22, HCMC Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai and leaders from the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, the HCMC National Assembly and the Fatherland Front visited workers at their enterprises in Cat Lai port. He wished all the workers a warm and joyous Tet holiday, even though they were far from home.
He wished them a happy New Year and presented gifts to the workers who worked on the last day of Lunar New Year.
HCMC Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai also visited staff at their enterprises in the hi-tech zones of HCMC on Jan. 24, the second day of Tet Lunar New Year.
He wished them a happy New Year and praised them for their effort in working wholeheartedly during the New Year festival, thus contributing to the development of HCMC.
On the same day, the Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee along with leaders from the HCMC People’s Committee also visited and extended Tet greetings to Saigon and Ben Nghe port workers. Secretary Hai expressed his appreciation of the contributions made by workers from industrial and export processing zones and for applying the party’s socio-economic policies.
On Jan. 22, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the CPV Central Committee and Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee led a delegation to visit and offer Tet greetings and gifts to the workers in rural Binh Tan District of HCMC, who were unable to return to their families during the Lunar New Year.
Comrade Ha expressed his sympathy to the workers for their efforts in continuing to work during the Tet holidays. She said that under a program themed “Do not let any poor household miss out on Tet”, the City Party has tried to pay special attention to the underprivileged workers, disadvantaged children, the poor and needy families, so that they all enjoy a happy Tet.
The warm visit by the city leader brought much comfort and cheer to the workers and helped relieve some of their homesickness in not being able to go back home for Tet.
