GREEVN, a branch of China’s Zhu Hai Gree Corporation, is to become the official sponsor of top-tier V-League football club Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) this year, confirmed a GREEVN (GVN) representative in a press conference yesterday.
However, the total sum involved has not been announced.
Club owner Doan Nguyen Duc highly evaluated GVN support, saying it benefits both sides.
The sponsor keeps the football team alive, in return, the football team becomes a good advertising method for the sponsor, Duc added.
HAGL based in Pleiku is currently is the most popular football cup in Viet Nam.
HAGL plays in the top division in Vietnamese football and holds many coveted awards, including the V-League championship in 2003, 2004 and Vietnamese Super Cup championship in 2003, 2004.
HAGL once competed against some world famous, including Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspur in 2006.
Recently, the team signed an agreement with Arsenal FC to open a school to train future footballers in Pleiku.
