The event is co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh city Youth Union and An Giang province.
Exhibits are paintings which were selected from the 8th children painting contest entitled, “President Ton Duc Thang and An Giang province”.
Launched in May, the competition received 147 submissions of 145 children between 10 and 15 years of age from 26 children’s houses, cultural centers and schools in HCM City and An Giang province. The organization board awarded 8 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 20 C prizes and 30 encouragement prizes.
Uncle Ton became state president from 1969 until his death in 1980. He was a nationalist and Communist and served as vice president to President Ho Chi Minh.
The Ton Duc Thang Museum was established on the occasion of the late President Thang's centenary in 1988. The museum has more than 600 items, documents and photos relating to the life of Mr. Thang, who is remembered as a great patriot and a model fighter.
