Ca Mau needs to move 5,700 houses out of landslide spots

Amid to the current serious landslides, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau province Le Van Su led a delegation to survey landslide spots in Nam Can district, where 16 houses were swallowed into the river with a total damage of VND 1 billion.

Several cracks have already appeared in roads and the walls of local houses. Thus, the households living near the damaged zone could be sunk into the river anytime. 

The chairman  directed the functional agencies need to eye the dangerous situation to timely take local people and move their properties to safe places. 

According to the Ca Mau Agricultural and Rural Development Department, the province has to move nearly 5,700 houses to new residential areas with total expense of VND 1.2 trillion billion by 2025.

Presently, local authority needs to VND 120 billion for building resettlement areas for families living in Vam Xoay and Rach Guoc seaport.

In recent days, heavy rains in combination with flood tide have brought serious landslide in Tien Giang province. 

A 30 meter dyke in Long Trung commune, Cai Lay district was swallowed into Tien River which caused difficult traffic across the area.
