The project to upgrade Cho Gao canal for the second phase tops the Ministry’s list comprising of 10 construction works.
The second phase aims to dredge to widen the southern bank of Cho Gao canal to 55m. The VND1.3 trillion (US$57 million) project’s second phase will upgrade a 28.6-km section of the canal including dredging the canal and building a stone embankment on the southern side of the canal and roads along its two banks
Next is a VND110 billion project to develop a maritime management system for the navigational passage to the Hau River with the aim of improve available infrastructure and build a vessel traffic management system with four radar stations and transmission internet system.
The remaining projects are 78.16-km N2 - My An - Cao Lanh highway with investment of VND4,500 billion; 200-km Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang with total of VND40,000 billion; 225-km Ha Tien-Rach Gia-Bac Lieu totaling VND45 trillion; project to upgrade the 53-km highway No. 60 through the Mekong delta province of Tra Vinh and Soc Trang costing VND1,600 billion; the project to expand the 47-km national highway 1A in Ca Mau province with investment of VND1,650 billion; and the project to expand the 35.5-km national highway 91C in An Giang province totaling VND1 trillion.
The Ministry said the projects play pivotal role in improving traffic system and socioeconomic growth of the region; accordingly, they should be carried out soon.
