A ceremony of the National Volunteer Awards 2014 was held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City on January 18.
Le Thanh Hai, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City attended the event.
11 organizations and individuals nationwide received 2014 National Volunteer Award for their outstanding contributions to the country.
The award which was launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the United Nations Volunteer Program aims to promote young people's creative abilities; encourage them to study and develop science and technology sector; play key role in social security activities, as well as contributing to the national construction and defense
The event also celebrated 15 years of volunteer activities in the country.
