179 Vallet scholarships awarded to Vietnamese students

179 Vallet scholarships worth a total of VND2 billion (US$ 86,129) were yesterday presented to outstanding students from high schools for the gifted and for ethnic minority in the central provinces of Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Hermann Gmeiner schools as well as college students.

The awards ceremony was held in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Da Lat city.
Head of the "Rencontres du Viet Nam" (Meeting Vietnam) organization Professor Tran Thanh Van said that the scholarship is an encouragement in the pursuit of learning.
This year, the organization will grant around 2,250 scholarships to outstanding students countrywide and children in the S.O.S Vietnam village with total of VND30 billion.
In 1993, an organization namely "Rencontres du Viet Nam" (Meeting Vietnam) as its co-chairmen, made debut and started operation. “Meeting Vietnam” is the organizer of the most prestigious particle physics conferences in the country- International Physics Science Conference.
They managed to persuade French Professor Odon Vallet to offer Odon Vallet scholarships to best students and young researchers; built International Center of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in Binh Dinh. Professor Odon Vallet was well-known for his philanthropy work and spent his savings helping impoverished Vietnamese students and encouraging them to study.
