Flood level was still high in many places and traffic was cut off raising difficulties for search and rescue operations, reported the Central Steering Center for Natural Disaster Prevention.
Meantime, another typhoon is intensifying in the East Sea threatening the mainland, expected to make landfall on October 16-17 and combine with a cold front making it very cold.
They might continue causing heavy rain in northern and central Vietnam.
Vietnam Electricity (EVN) said that Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir has closed all bottom outlets, Tuyen Quang closed one outlet and Thac Ba shut two gated spillways.
However, the Dyke Management Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that the flood level in the Red River, Thai Binh, Hoang Long and Ma rivers was still high on Saturday. Hundreds of dyke spots have been breached or vulnerable to flooding.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that 47 out of 165 hydropower reservoirs have released water through their spillways. They are all operating normally.
Water Resource Directorate said that most of irrigation reservoirs have been full. Of these, 138 reservoirs in the northern region and 83 in the north central region are susceptible to flooding.
