Vietnam, Philippines mark 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy to Vietnam and Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City last night organized a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam- Philippines diplomatic ties and the 118th anniversary of Philippines' Independence Day (June 12th, 1898- 2016).

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy to Vietnam and Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City last night organized a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam- Philippines diplomatic ties and the 118th anniversary of Philippines' Independence Day (June 12th, 1898- 2016).

Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong affirmed that 12th July, 1976 marked significant turning point in Vietnam- Philippines friendship and cooperative relations.

In past 40 years, two countries witnessed development progress, especially, put the relations to strategic partnership in 2015.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong believed two countries’ leaders will strengthen further bilateral cooperative programs.

On the current East Sea issue, the chairman desired Vietnam and the Philippines should share outlooks together about East Sea's conflicts  via solutions for peace under international laws and United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982.
