Can Tho City People’s Committee on April 3 kicked off the second phase of the urban upgrading project which is partially funded by the World Bank.
Within this phase, to run until 2014, 40 million USD will be used to upgrade more than 100 alleys and dredge canals running through 12 wards in the city.
The WB contributed half of the cost while the remaining will be extracted from the city’s budget.
The urban upgrading project in Can Tho, with a total investment capital of 68 million USD, is designed to improve the city’s infrastructure including the upgrading of 200 alleys and main canals as well as building of apartments for dislocated citizens.
Together with Can Tho, Nam Dinh, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City have also received funding from the WB for upgrading their infrastructure.
