Thai Cabinet gives green light to many economic measures

The cabinet approved extension to the registration period for a reduction in corporate income tax for Special Economic Zone operators from 20 percent to 10 percent from January 1, 2018 to December 30, 2020.

The Ministry of Commerce reported measures of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Ministry of Interior to cope with the low prices of oil palm and found some 208,000 tons of raw palm oil at extracting factories. 

The measures called for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to purchase palm oil for the production of electricity and increased household consumption of palm oil in order to reduce the palm oil in stock with the purchase of 100,000 tons of palm oil within this month. 

The purchases will be continued in the following months until the stock has been emptied. The Ministry of Commerce will see to it that the palm oil prices will not be manipulated by opportunist traders and adversely affect oil palm growers. Besides, the Ministry of Energy has promoted the use of B20 diesel by making it available at 300 gas stations nationwide.

The cabinet approved three categories of service for which the employment of migrant workers will not require legal permission, including the lending business between affiliated firms in the country, the leasing business for office buildings and related facilities and the consultation between affiliated firms in terms of management, marketing, human resources and information technology.

The cabinet approved the transfers of Sutthi Sukosol from the post of Department of Skill Development Director General to that of Ministry of Labor Permanent Secretary, Suchart Phornchaivisetkul from the post of Ministry of Labor inspector general to that of Department of Skill Development Director General, Soranit Siltham from the post of Ministry of Science and Technology to that of Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Permanent Secretary.
