Professor Tran Van Giau, a famous educator and veteran revolutionary, passed away at the age of 100 in Ho Chi Minh City on December 16.
He was former secretary of the Vietnam Communist Party’s Nam Ky (South Vietnam) region and chairman of the South Vietnam’s Resistance Committee.
He was honored for his 80-year membership in the Communist Party and lifetime devotion to a revolutionary and educational cause.
Professor Giau is widely known for his research work and books on literature, history and philosophy.
He was bestowed the tittles of People’s Teacher, Doi Moi-era (renovation-era) Labor Hero, Ho Chi Minh Award, Ho Chi Minh Medal and other honorable badges.
