The People’s Army of Vietnam has found the remains of 30,538 Vietnamese martyrs’ in Laos and Cambodia and has brought them back to Vietnam, said leaders from the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday.
Search for the remains of lost martyrs began in Laos in 1994 and in Cambodia in 2001.
More than 1,000 remains of Vietnamese martyrs have still to be found in Laos and about 5,000 in Cambodia. These are said to be located in highly inaccessible and mountainous areas.
Vietnam is determined to search for all remains of lost Vietnamese martyrs by 2015.
