After the greeting ceremony, the two leaders held the talk about cooperation relations between Vietnam and Australia in the fields of economy, trade, investment, official development assistance (ODA) especially putting into operation of Cao Lanh Bridge in May, 2018 and My Thuan Bridge as proposed plans which contributed to socio- economic development of the Mekong Delta localities.
NA chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that Vietnam desired to continue to receive the assistance from Australia in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture - rural development, poverty reduction, dealing with climate change, development of high quality human resources, etc.
President of the Australian Senate Scott Ryan stressed that Vietnam’s economic achievements were considered as an evidence showing efforts of the two countries to improve life of the people and the community.
On the same day, Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Australian President of the Senate Scott Ryan at Governmental Office.
Speaking at the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Vietnam always values strategic partnership relations with the partner, and the Vietnamese Government wants to closely collaborate with the Australian Government in order to effectively implement comprehensions of the joint statement on Vietnam - Australia strategic partnership establishment.
Additionally, the Vietnamese PM highly appreciated Australia's official development assistance priority to Vietnam, and he affirmed that the donation had actively contributed to Vietnam’s socio- economic development.
Therefore, he hoped that the partner would continue to push cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture - rural development, poverty reduction, anti- climate change and high- quality human resource development.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Vietnam desires Australia raises its voice in supporting stances of ASEAN and Vietnam, serious implementation of DOC, soon achieving a legally binding COC, helping Vietnam in improving the capacity of marine management, development and enforcement of maritime policies, training marine law experts, etc.
