The City Department of Flood and Storm Prevention stated that areas near Cai Rang Bridge on the Can Tho River are seeing depressions and cracks of up to 70m long and 15m wide, putting at least 20 homes at risk along the banks of the river.

The vehicular traffic roads along Cai Son Canal in An Binh Commune and Ngong Canal in An Hoa Commune in Ninh Kieu District are also sinking in many areas.

Dao Anh Dung, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee in Can Tho City said that city authorities were on alert to evacuate affected households.

At least 2,500 households in Can Tho City presently face evacuation from landslide prone areas in Binh Thuy, Phong Dien and Vinh Thanh districts. Unfortunately, resettlement projects are too slow in implementing.
