An explosion at a bank in northwest China's Gansu province injured at least 39 people but caused no deaths, the official Xinhua news agency said Friday, citing witnesses and the local government.
Xinhua had previously reported that the explosion in Tianzhu county -- triggered by a homemade petrol bomb -- had led to "significant deaths and injuries."
A witness cited by the agency said he saw more than 10 people throw themselves out of the window of the fourth-floor meeting room, while many others were carried out of the building on stretchers.
