The Ministry of Transport on July 17 said they were preparing necessary procedures to lease Cai Mep-Thi Vai Deep Seaport in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau for a period of 30 years.
The Ministry will invite bids for the running of Cai Mep International Container Terminal and Thi Vai General Port in the third quarter of the year.
Cai Mep area will be leased for a fixed price of US$219.5 million a year, excluding fluctuation in annual costs, while Thi Vai will be leased for $130.5 million per annum, plus allowances for fluctuation costs.
The Ministry of Transport has tasked the Vietnam Marine Administration to assess and approve bidding of the two above packages.
Cai Mep-Thi Vai is the first State-built seaport to be leased.
