Leather Company caught dumping waste, sewage

Officials from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Police officials uncovered a leather processing company in the southern province of Binh Duong discharging about 140 tons of waste into the environment on August 31.

The Vina Rong Hsing leather processing company is fully foreign invested and located in My Phuoc 1 Industrial Zone in Ben Cat District of Binh Duong Province. The company was caught discharging 140 tons of waste which was full of dirt and leather scraps, swept up from the litter around the company’s processing plant.

Besides discovering the waste dump, officials also found a reservoir that had accumulated wastewater from the production plant of the company. It was found leaking into the sewage sluice system of My Phuoc Industrial Zone with grimy black wastewater and a foul stench.

Representatives of the company have already confessed in writing that since August last year, waste emanating from the company processing plant was never processed.

The Vina Rong Hsing Company just continued to pile up the dirt and rubbish waste and leftover leather scraps from around the plant premises and dumped the waste without recycling it.
