There were 6.6 million people bought jobless insurance after two years of its establishment, Nguyen Dai Dong, head of the Job Department under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, recently announced.
The jobless insurance fund has reached more than VND7.8 trillion, he said, adding that by the end of last year, the jobless insurance fund paid around VND550 billion to labors.
The fund was just around VND3.06 trillion with 5.4 million participants when the unemployment insurance was first launched in Vietnam in 2009.
In Southeast Asia, only Vietnam and Thailand have been applied jobless insurance policy up to now.
