After a meeting between Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung and professors and medical corporations on June 6, Japan pledged to support Vietnam in building a cancer treatment center.
The Japanese delegation was led by Prof. Kensi Hotta, chairman of a non-profit association to support cancer patients in Japan. At the meeting, Chairman Chung said that the rate of cancer patients in Hanoi particularly and in Vietnam generally is high especially concerning to stomach, lung and liver cancers.
Worse, two third of cancer patients were detected at last stage. Accordingly Vietnamese Ministry of Health and Hanoi need the aid of Japanese professors and Japan to early diagnose and treatment for patients.
Mr. Chung asserted that Hanoi leaders are ready to solve all difficulties if the project to build a cancer center encounter hiccups along its way so that the center will soon operate, hoping that Japanese professors will transfer advanced technologies of early detection of cancer to the high-tech cancer center in Saint Paul General Hospital especially technologies of digestive cancers.
Prof. Kensi Hotta said that Japan will send its experts in cancer to Vietnam to transfer technologies to their Vietnamese counterparts and Japan is willing to receive Vietnamese doctors to study in Japan.
