The imported cars contributed to increasing budget revenue of approximately VND 7,000 billion (US$ 301.5 million) over the same period of last year.

Besides that, Ho Chi Minh City also imported 68,200 motorbikes, up more than 11 percent over the same period of 2018, spending USS 157.9 million.

The municipal customs agency assessed that growth as well as the large number of the imported vehicles only soared in the first four months of the year, and then it tends to decrease gradually.

From January to March, around 4,000 pickup trucks passed through customs clearance because importers took advantage of their selling before April 10.

The number of under-nine-seat imported cars from ASEAN countries to Ho Chi Minh City also increased sharply in order to take advantage of zero percent import tax rate.
