The steering committee for voluntary blood donation in Ho Chi Minh City under the municipal People’s Committee yesterday held a ceremony to honor voluntary blood donors.
According to the committee, the voluntary blood donation movement has been one of beauty and humanitarian feature of the city. Hundreds of thousands of donors voluntarily gave their blood drops to save others.
With the message “A Drop of Blood Saves a Life”, the voluntary blood donation movement has spread widely in the community; accordingly more and more people are ready to join in the program. Many city residents have donated blood 80 times including Phan Kim My in ward 11 district 5; Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan in ward 10 district 8; Nguyen Huu Thuan in Da Kao ward in district 1 and Nguyen Dang Hoang in ward 3 in Binh Thanh District.
At the ceremony, 12 people who have given their blood in successive years were awarded certificates of merit signed by the Prime Minister; 153 persons received certificates of merit of the central Red Cross Association; 368 others were granted certificates of merit of the municipal People’s Committee and 10 exemplary people received insignias.
All these people will participate in the ceremony “ Vietnam’s heart trip” to be held in Hanoi from 12 – 14 June.
