Six people have been reported dead as a gold mine collapsed in the central province of Quang Nam, according to senior lieutenant-colonel Le Van Hong from the provincial police.

The gold mine is located in a remote and inaccessible border area between Ta Ping and Chaval in Nam Giang District.
The accident occurred on June 14 but local authorities only learnt of the incident Friday as the mine is deep in the jungle, the provincial police said.
The six victims are from the Kho Mu ethnic minority group from the northern province of Bac Giang and died while attempting to dig for the precious metal for the past several days.
