Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper in coordination with Thien Nhan Charity Association in Ho Chi Minh City and the Children Sponsor Fund in the central province of Nghe An yesterday gave gifts to needy and disabled children in Nghe An.
For past time, in response to the Thien Nhan Charity Association's call for help for disadvantaged and disabled children, needy and good students and poor patients across the country and neighboring countries, many organization have contributed much to the fund.
On the occasion, Thien Nhan Association, Sai Gon Giai Phong with the sponsor of Sieu Thanh Corporation gave 50 wheelchairs totally worth VND 62,5 million (US$2,782) to disabled children who are taken care of by the Children Sponsor Fund of Nghe An.
The team also came to Phuc Tho Commune in Nghi Loc District to give 50 scholarships each worth VND1 million (US$44.5) and a box of Trung thu (Moon cake) to good students from low-income families.
These scholarships are supported by Dai Nam Pharmaceutical Company, Sai Gon Pharmaceutical Company and Sieu Thanh Corporation responding to the call of Thien Nhan Association.
Leaders of Phuc Tho Commune said that these scholarships and gifts would help children much in the new academic year and Trung Thu festival.
Ms. Le Thi Van, former member of People's Committee in HCMC and chairwoman of Thien Nhan Association said that many families in Nghe An were so poor that parents could not afford tuition fee and spending and thousand unfortunate children have suffer fatal diseases and disabled.
Accordingly the activity of the association and benefactors in joining hand to give children small presents will encourage children to overcome difficulties to better themselves in life.
