The People’s Committee of Di Linh District in the Central Highland Province of Lam Dong met yesterday with relevant departments to discuss evacuation measures for residents here, as cracks have been found in more than nineteen homes.
Nguyen Canh, Chairman of the People’s Committee said that very large and deep cracks on roads and in homes are a threat to people’s lives in Ward 1 and residents must be evacuated.
On Nguyen Van Troi Street, nine cracks have been seen so far, while the crack on Hai Ba Trung Street is as wide as 20cm, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through.
The number of households affected by the cracks has risen to 23 from 15 since the end of last month. The cracks in four homes along Highway 20 have put those buildings at high risk of collapsing.
The Di Linh District has approved of initially displacing 19 households by assisting them with a VND3-5 million fund each. The cracks have occurred there since the beginning of May.
