The General Department of Irrigation under the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development asked the Southern Institute for Irrigational Science keep close watch on water flow and resource after China’ s Canh Hong Hydroelectric Plant released water from its hydroelectric dams to help Vietnam against drought and saltwater influx in Mekong Delta region.
Accordingly, the Southern Institute for Irrigational Science must assess result, impact as well as the volume rate of water discharges.
The General Department of Irrigation reported that the water discharge is scheduled to flow from Canh Hong Hydroelectric Plant to Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region on March 26.
Earlier, China released an estimated of 2, 190 cubic meter per second from its Canh Hong Hydroelectric Plant to downstream Mekong river from March 15 to April 10.
