The National Voluntary Blood Donation Day in Can Tho City in the Mekong delta attracted over 1,500 participants on April 6.
The event collected 169 units of blood from 200 donors including Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee Le Hung Dung. The organizer awarded 15 teams and 22 individuals who donated the most blood.
The campaign was launched in Can Tho City in 1999, said Huynh Tien Dung, chairman of Red Cross in Can Tho City. It has received much popularity since.
The organization has collected 30,183 units of blood since 2013, said Dung.
