According to an announcement by the Police Agency on Economic and Corruption Crimes (C46) under the Ministry of Public Security, the fifty-nine year old woman has been accused of abusing trust to appropriate properties and deliberately breaking economic management regulations causing serious consequences.
Besides her, other three former officials of the bank have also been prosecuted for breaking economic management regulations, causing serious consequences.
Of them, 49 year old Nguyen Duc Tai, former director of Dong A Transaction Office, has been held in custody while 58 year old Nguyen Van Thuan, former deputy director and 56 year old Tran The Hung, former cashier of the office are let out on bail for investigation.
The three offenders were accused of helping Xuyen conduct offenses, the agency said.
According to the agency, Xuyen abused her position instructing inferiors to finalize fake loans to appropriate the bank’s money during her office time in Dong A. She also instructed loaning for wrong purposes and in a wrong process.
Xuyen has caused the bank's loss of VND350 billion (US$15.41 million). After being under special surveillance by the bank, she was suspended in September 2015.
Previously Tran Phuong Binh, former deputy chairman of Dong A’s board of directors cum former director general of the bank and his deputy Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van were prosecuted for deliberately breaking economic management as well as loan regulations, causing serious consequences.
So far, nearly ten former leaders and employees of Dong A have been prosecuted for the two charges.
