Agency Makes it Easier to Get Passport

The Exit and Entry Management Agency of the Ministry of Public Security is publicizing a service aimed at providing information on passport applications via short message service (SMS) or voice mailbox at 1900561212.

The service is only for those apply for a passport at the agency, according to Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Nguyen Van Anh, the agency’s chief clerk.

Within 12 hours after submitting an application, the applicant will receive a number which he can use check on his application. 

To use the SMS service, users of local mobile network providers such as VinaPhone, MobiFone, Viettel, Sfone and CitiFone, will send a SMS with the syntax: XNC_ number of the application, to the destination 8383.  

To use the mailbox service, users dial 1900561212, and then dial 9. Later, a tone will request that they insert the number of their application. After typing in the number, the user will click the "#" button. 

The service will then provide information about the application, including whether it’s approved or not, whether it’s being processed by the passport office, whether a fee needs to be paid, and whether the application has been passed to the Ministry of Public Security.

If the application does not fulfill all requirements, the service will provide the names of the documents which are missing.  

Finally, users of this service can check whether their passports are issued yet.
